Al Ain Hospital Launches new state-of-the-art renovated Labour & Delivery Section

Al Ain Hospital announced the launch of a brand new renovated state-of-the-art Labour and Delivery (L&D) Section with world-class technology infrastructure as part of the hospital's vision and strategy to provide the most advanced and sophisticated maternity healthcare services to the Al Ain community.

The new renovated Labour & Delivery Section comes with an array of facilities including;

  • Six birthing rooms equipped with the latest equipment
  • Two triage rooms
  • Two induction rooms
  • Two high dependence rooms
  • A dedicated operation theatre for emergency caesarian section
  • A technologically advanced neonatal section equipped with six neonatal resuscitators to handle emergency

The new Labour & Delivery Section of Al Ain Hospital is fully equipped to handle high risk pregnancies and is capable of delivering the best critical emergency care to both the mother and the child. The layout of the division has been designed to ensure maximum privacy for the patient.

"The new facility is a self contained division wherein every possible medical requirement of the expectant mother and the new born baby can be handled promptly. The renovated section has been designed to provide maximum privacy and comfort to the expecting mother," added Dr. Mona Khalfan - Head of Women's Health Institute.

"Modeled along the best international medical standards, the new Labour & Delivery section makes use of highly specialized, precision-driven and integrated medical technology to successfully manage the medical risks associated with the most complicated of child births," said Professor Barbara Bodner-Adler, Head of Obstetrics-Al Ain Hospital, who is also an Associate Professor at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vienna Medical University.

The new facility will include six specialized Stryker birthing beds that offer support and comfort to the patient and also allow greater maneuverability to the attending medical staff, a self contained hi-tech operating table which is amongst the most advanced available in the world, blood gas analyzer, CTG machines that enable continuous electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) of baby's heart rate and the mother's labour contractions, top-of-the range anesthetic and ultrasound machines and iLED cold lights that eliminate the patient discomfort resulting from high energy surgical lights.

Al Ain hospital conducts more that 2,500 births a year.
