Midwifery Conference

2-3 April, 2012 (repeated program)

Ban Ki Moon, the Secretary General of the United Nations recently was quoted in The State of the World’s Midwifery 2011 report and stated;

“Ensuring that every woman and her newborn have access to quality midwifery services demands that we take bold steps”

International evidence that shows that midwife led care confers many benefits for pregnant women. A recent report published by the United Nations stated that:

“Increasing women’s access to quality midwifery services has become a focus of global efforts to realize the right of every woman to the best possible health care during pregnancy and childbirth.”

This conference will help midwives in the region to be informed about local, national and international midwifery initiatives to ensure their practice is based on the best available evidence. The one day program will cover topics that include best practices internationally and how to incorporate them into the UAE practice, as well as the psychology of the midwife and literature reviews.
